Mosaic Symbolizes Sanctification

Ferrysburg (Mich.) Community Christian Reformed Church recently commissioned a local artist to create a 4-by-5-foot mosaic. Rev. Nathan Visker said the mosaic of a peacock is a metaphor for sanctification. “It&rsou;s a reminder that the Christian life is meant to be a vibrant and dynamic journey.”

The mosaic was created by Mary C. Chittenden, an artist from Spring Lake, Mich. The wording on the mosaic reads, “Each year the peacock loses its feathers, growing more colorful ones in their place. So it is with life in Christ. We release our old life, receiving a new, more vibrant one in return.”
