Pacific Hanmi to Continue Indefinitely

The CRC’s Korean-speaking classis, Pacific Hanmi, will continue to exist past its original mandate, Synod 2007 decided.

Created as a unique environment in which Korean-speaking congregations could flourish, it was originally assumed the classis would be needed for only 15 years.

But the committee monitoring Classis Pacific Hanmi recommended that the life of the classis be extended indefinitely because the classis has grown significantly and continues to effectively welcome first-generation Korean immigrant congregations. Synod 2007 agreed.

Synod encouraged Pacific Hanmi leaders to continue their work of training and bringing churches more fully into the life of the denomination.
