First year university students, excited but often overwhelmed, don’t always know where to look for guidance, especially at larger institutions.
Knowing this, three CRC men teamed up to connect directly with incoming Christian Reformed university students before they arrived on campus. Rick VanManen, a Christian Reformed chaplain at the University of Alberta; Ron DeVries, youth ministry consultant for Classis Alberta North; and Rick Mast, youth pastor for West End CRC in Edmonton, held a “Stepping Out” retreat, which provided an opportunity for students to meet their local campus ministers and connect with other Christian Reformed students attending the same school.
