Both The Banner and Reformed Worship received top awards from the Associated Church Press at its annual spring convention, held this year in Orlando, Fla.

The Banner received top honors for Magazine Redesign and for Humor (“Love Thy Neighbour,” by Lloyd Rang, June 2005). It also received an Award of Merit for an illustration Scott Holladay created for the “Just for Kids” pages (September 2005). That section itself won an Honorable Mention. The Banner also received Honorable Mentions for two feature articles: “Eternal Ray of Hope” by Carma Smidt (January 2005) and “New York City’s Tree of Hope” by Rachel Snyder (December 2005).

Reformed Worship also received a number of awards. It earned the first-place Award of Excellence for its department “Songs for the Season” by Carl P. Daw Jr., Kathleen Hart Brumm, and Roger Bergs (March, June, September 2005). And it won an Award of Merit for Best in Class: Special Interest Magazine. Judges called it “fresh and well-grounded” with “thoughtful resources.” RW also received an Honorable Mention for its professional resource “Singing Our Way from Ascension to Pentecost” by Daw.

The Associated Church Press includes more than 120 publishing members, representing many denominations across North America.
