Orland Park (Ill.) Christian Reformed Church was the place to be Feb. 11 for 158 girls and 122 mothers and grandmothers.

It was the fourth annual girls-and-dolls event. This year’s theme was a pajama party. Girls ages 4 and up dressed in their pajamas and brought their dolls for a morning of games, crafts, brunch, and a play that included the gospel message.

Cindy Vander Laan, Orland Park’s spiritual gifts coordinator, said 65 percent of those attending were not members of the congregation. “Our church is very visionary in reaching out to the community, and they respond hugely,” she said. “We hope the contact will lead to more.”
