MercyMe’s 12th studio album, “Wonder and Awe,” offers high-energy fun with the band’s unmistakable messages of hope and trust. “One of the struggles within today’s church is the lack of awe,” said lead singer Bart Millard. “Having access to virtually everything within the palm of our hands, where’s the joy in being surprised, those moments that take our breath away? This album reflects where I am right now … longing for wonder and awe—actively seeking the wonder of God and learning not to take it for granted.” The record’s jewel, “Oh Death,” garnered No. 1 status on two Christian charts. The chorus says, “Oh death, I will not be afraid; In the end you will lose; I will dance on your grave with the one who buried you; You ain't nothin' but a stone that my savior rolled away; Set you straight and set me free; Oh death, you are dead to me; (Oh death, you are dead to me).” Highlights: “Sing (Like You’ve Already Won)” and “Heartbroken Hallelujah,” the catchy “Canary in a Coal Mine,” and “Fred Astaire.” This 41-minute record provides singable and toe-tapping songs.
