We Are Messengers have blazed an impressive musical journey. The natives of Ireland released their first studio album in 2016, and their latest work, “Where the Joy Is,” marked studio album number four. We Are Messengers is a band for the people. “The goal has always been to engage culture in conversation about the goodness of God and to put words and melody to some of the hardest things we feel as humans,” according to the group’s website. “This is a band that understands and loves outsiders, the marginalized, the lost and the least.” “Where the Joy Is” features the band’s signature high-energy sound with a ballad thrown in for a little variety. Radio singles include “God Be the Glory” and “A Thousand Times.” Blanca and her soulful sounds join the band for “My Hope is in You,” and rising artist Ben Fuller adds his vocals to “I Found Rest.” The record begins with the toe-tapping “Keep Your Head Up,” urging people to not give up and declares that “Jesus will be waiting at the finish line.” This album is a winner—strong, real, and hopeful.
