Coming to Synod 2022 (the general assembly of the Christian Reformed Church) was a family reunion for Bonnie Zigterman and her daughter.

Bonnie is an elder delegate from Classis Northern Illinois.

“It’s nice to know I have someone there when I need a break from everything who I can go hang out with,” said Hope. Bonnie brought her husband, Paul Zigterman, along, so Hope was visiting with both of her parents.

Located in Washington, D.C., where she works for a member of Congress, Hope lives far away from her parents. She has seen her mom and dad only a couple times since the COVID-19 pandemic started—and last Christmas her planned trip to Illinois was canceled when she caught the virus.

Synod 2022 is meeting at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Mich., from June 10-16.
