Rev. Esteban Lugo resigned as director of the Race Relations ministry of the Christian Reformed Church, effective July 22, after serving in the position for 12 years.

Although Lugo declined to comment, Colin Watson, the denomination’s director of ministries and administration, said Lugo decided to consider other ministry opportunities following a short leave of absence. “We want to express our appreciation for Esteban’s 12 years of service as director and wish him the best in his future endeavours,” Watson said.

Watson said he anticipates a search for a new director later in the year. CRC Communications announced that a proposal related to that will be discussed by the CRC’s Board of Trustees.

Rev. Shannon Jammal-Hollemans and Rev. Reggie Smith will provide leadership for the Race Relations ministry in the interim.
