Casting Crowns cemented its legacy in the Christian contemporary music sphere long ago. That happens when groups make music that resonates with listeners. The proof is also in sales: 12 million albums sold. After about four years, frontman Mark Hall and his cast return with their latest work—“Healer.” The record consists of only seven songs, but each is powerful. “As I started working on this record, I realized all the songs I was writing dealt with healing in some way, something we all need,” Hall said in a release. “And more than that, we need a Healer. This whole album is about healing, about how God meets us where we are and what his healing looks like.” “Scars of Heaven” exploded on Christian radio. Both a sad and hopeful song, the message focuses on the scars of the deceased person that falls on Jesus’ hands in heaven. Hall wrote the song as he watched grandparents slowly die. “Second Options,” a fun country fiddle song with a direct message, says, ''It’s high time we turn our interest to God’s Word instead of Pinterest.” This record should win awards—lots of awards.
