Twenty-one-year-old Tori Harper declares God’s presence in life’s storms with her EP, Selah. “These songs came from finding God in the middle of the pain of breaking off my engagement in early 2019,” the singer-songwriter said. “My relationship had become toxic, and I knew that God was leading me to break it off, but it was a hard pill to swallow.” Harper cries out to God in the opening song: “The Wreck.” The chorus states: “Where are you Lord? Where are you Lord? ; In the middle of the mess; Lord show me how to live faith out; In the middle of the wreck, In the middle of the wreck.” Other songs on this almost 17-minute EP are titled “Resurrect,” “Hiding Place” and “Closer.” Harper’s voice echoes sweetness and projects calmness throughout the EP. The music expresses raw feelings and an utter dependence upon God. The record’s vulnerability makes it even more appealing. (The Fuel Music)
