What is your book club reading this year? My church, Neland Avenue CRC in Grand Rapids, Mich., has a book club for women. This summer we put together our list for the coming year. We try to create a mix of fiction and nonfiction, spiritual and secular, young adult and classic.

The Banner would like to hear from you—what’s your book club reading? Is it a church club or a group of friends? How do you choose titles? What books have generated the best discussions? Inquiring minds want to know! Here’s the Neland list:

The Dirty Life, by Kristin Kimball

Hannah Coulter, by Wendell Berry

How to Save a Life, by Sara Zarr

Bonhoeffer, by Eric Metaxas

Five Quarters of the Orange, by Joanne Harris

When I Was a Child I Read Books, by Marilynne Robinson

Left Neglected, by Lisa Genova

Caleb’s Crossing, by Geraldine Brooks

The Buddha in the Attic, by Julie Otsuka

Those Who Save Us, by Jenna Blum

Of Mice and Menby John Steinbeck

We Are Counting on You
