You might already own Vivaldi’s Gloria on disc. But replace whatever recording you own with this one. Unlike most past recordings, Jentekor does away with overworked tempi, and uses a chorus and instrumentalists of Vivaldi’s intention. Further, this disc includes two introduzione (introductory motets) that Vivaldi meant to be sung before the Gloria. The result is like hearing the angels singing “Glory to God in the highest . . .” over the fields at Bethlehem for the first time. Glorious indeed. Available at spinningdogrecords.com.
