The Exeter Lakeshore Times-Advance reported March 4 that Huron-Perth counties in Ontario had raised more than half a million dollars in the 2026 Coldest Night of the Year campaign that annually funds critical service providers to vulnerable people across Canada. Exeter (Ont.) Christian Reformed Church was one of six hubs hosting the cold night walk-a-thon in the region.

Having hosted at least six years, Exeter CRC also enters a team of walkers to support the cause. “This year we were called the ‘New Testaments,’ and the team was made up of walkers representing many generations,” the church office told The Banner. The 14-person team raised $7,861 toward the Exeter location’s $51,920 total, contributed by 15 teams and 101 registered walkers.

“At the end of the walk everyone returned to the church, and with the help of many volunteers we served a light supper of chili and buns and dessert and refreshments,” the office said.

The Banner noted churches' involvement in the Coldest Night events more than a decade ago, in 2013 and 2014
