As part of the report from the Christian Reformed Church’s standing Historical Committee, Synod 2025 celebrated the 150th anniversary of Kelloggsville CRC in Kentwood, Mich., with a commemorative plaque. Synod also celebrated all of the milestone anniversaries of pastors and Churches in the CRCNA, including more than 60 pastors and over 30 congregations. Zachary King, general secretary of the Christian Reformed Church of North America said, “We wish Kelloggsville and all of our churches celebrating anniversaries the best and give thanks to the Lord because his love endures forever.”
Synod is the annual general assembly of the Christian Reformed Church in North America. It is meeting June 13-19 in Ancaster, Ont.
Synod also recognized and appreciated the service of retiring members from the Historical Committee, Tony Maan and Herman De Vries, and thanked continuing curator William Katerberg and the Heritage Hall staff, student workers, and volunteers.
Reaching much further back than 150 years, Synod 2025 celebrated the 1,700th anniversary of the Council of Nicea, which led to Nicene Creed, and instructed the Office of the General Secretary to identify resources and make suggestions for how churches and classes can commemorate and teach the ancient creed. Synod used the creed in worship Sunday night.
Redeemer University, where synod is meeting, is convening a conference, “Defending Christ: Celebrating 1700 Years of Nicaea,” in October.
