The Sunnyside (Wash.) Christian High School boys’ basketball team won the state title after going 26-0 through the regular season.
This is their first state title under the newly divided B league, but their third title in six years. “There was a tremendous amount of pressure,” said Coach Dean Wagenaar. “We always talk about humility, but these kids showed no arrogance.”
A strong group of seniors led the way: Lucas Brouwer, Nick DeJong, Chris Denchel, Brandon De Vries, Luke Meininger, Aaron Van de Graaf, Cole Van de Graaf, and Adrian Van Oostrum. “The most rewarding thing is to watch kids, their families, and friends celebrate,” said Wagenaar.
