Tithing isn’t just personal for this Holland, Mich., congregation.
During a recent building project, Providence Christian Reformed Church agreed to tithe a portion of the funds to support a building project in Uganda. “It was an investment our church decided to make,” said member Dave Altena.
Altena and Rev. Keith Doornbos, pastor of Providence CRC, traveled to Mukono, Uganda, to present one of their church’s financial installments to their partner congregation, St. Philip and Andrew Church.
The church gave $115,000 for the Mukono House, a three-story commercial building. Rental income from the building will fund the church’s ministries, including care for children whose parents are ill with or have died from AIDS.
