A young girl knows that Jesus was once a child like she is now. She imagines what it would be like if Jesus came to her school for a day. How would Jesus act? What would he say? What would she show Jesus?
Author April Graney’s playful, rhyming text and illustrator Yana Kozak’s cheerful, bright pictures capture the joy and excitement the girl experiences as she thinks about showing Jesus her cubby, desk, and class guinea pig, and introducing Jesus to her friends. She imagines sharing her lunch with him, swinging on the swings beside him, and watching him show love to a lonely student.
But suddenly, the girl realizes something: “If Jesus came to school with me, / I think that’s how he’d be. / But Jesus made a different plan— / he wants to live through ME! / I can be his hands and feet / to spread his love to all. / I can share and help and give / so no one feels too small!”
Christian parents who share this book with their kids have the opportunity to talk about what it means that they can live the way Jesus wants them to, at any time and in any place.
