Dan Dean, lead vocalist of the longtime Christian group Phillips, Craig and Dean, moves to a solo platform with his debut recording—“More.” “The word ‘more’ in relation to the album title signifies several things,” he said of the project’s overarching theme in a release. “‘More’ songs and music from what has already been a very fulfilling career; ‘more’ of what I hope are healing tunes of strength and encouragement, and ‘more’ of God’s Spirit in our nation, which is so in need of revival and his healing.”

The album offers an expansive country sound with an infusion of bluegrass, topped off with a little pop and balladry. “Travel Light” is the opening song and features bandmates Philips and Craig with the theme of letting go of the past. “Glimpses of Glory” highlights the beauty of creation and mentions specific places in the U.S. Other notable selections include “Walk on Water,” a good ol’ country tune to sing along to, and the beautiful ballad, “I Was in the Room.”

Dean invites a solid guest list on the record, besides Randy Phillips and Shawn Craig, including the likes of The Isaacs, Dean’s son Devin, Debi Selby, and Christine Dente. Dean’s voice remains strong and distinctive, and the lyrics on this project are certainly relatable. (Stow Town Records)
