“I can hear change humming

In its loudest, proudest song.

I don’t fear change coming,

And so I sing along.”

Amanda Gorman’s poetic voice comes to life in Change Sings. Gorman, the youngest presidential inaugural poet in U.S. history, invites children to imagine how a song might bring change, one child at a time, one home at a time, one neighborhood at a time.

Amanda Gorman’s voice is amplified by illustrations by Loren Long. Long’s illustrations are characteristically bold and bright, swirling with verve and color. They also carry the kind of tiny details that children love to explore.

This is the first picture book for Gorman, but Long is well-known for the best-selling Otis series. He is also the illustrator of Of Thee I Sing, by Barack Obama, and Love, by Matt de la Peña. Recommended for ages 4-10. (Viking/Penguin Random House)
