This adorable new animated series on Netflix will give young children insight into animals and nature, as well as giving them some lessons in love and kindness. Episodes run about 10 minutes each. Oona, a young puffin, lives with her family on an Irish island, along with her friend, the pygmy shrew named Mossy, a seal, a rabbit, and others.
The show is lovely. Produced by the same Irish outfit, Cartoon Saloon, that created the movies The Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea, it shares the same sensibilities, combining colorful, deceptively simple animation with gentle music, great storytelling, and irresistible Irish accents.
