Mother-daughter team Jean Stoffer and Grace Start, hosts of their TV show The Established House, join forces with illustrator Megan Lindsey in this tender children’s picture book, which develops the theme of Proverbs 16:9: “A man’s heart plans his way, but the LORD directs his step” (NKJV).

In introductory notes, the authors write, “Moving has been a big part of our lives. … Moving brings up a lot of emotions, excitement and anxiety both. We have felt these emotions, and our children have too. We’ve discovered God’s faithfulness during these times, and we’ve experienced His comforting presence as we move to the new places He has for us.”

Rhyming text and charming illustrations introduce young readers to a mom and dad and their three children who are preparing to move to a new house. “‘An exciting change is coming,’ says Mom, / ‘a change bigger than the weather. / And just in case you don’t remember, / we are home when we’re together.’” Mom explains that God is in charge of their lives no matter where they go and they can “cherish the past, and trust God with the future.” They also learn that homes come in various shapes and sizes and are located in different climates and geographical locations. No matter where they are, the mom urges her children to remember that families are home when they’re together.

This charming picture book could present Christian parents with a springboard to share God’s comforting presence and direction for his children in all circumstances and places.
