Eleven members of Seattle’s First Christian Reformed Church joined hands with their South African sister church, Evaton Noord, not just spiritually but physically in July.

Although the trip included much travel around South Africa, the purpose was to establish relationships with members of Evaton Noord.

Members of both churches worked together to paint a new building of classrooms and daycare facilities. “There was a group painting in each of the rooms, and my feeling was that we were truly ‘brothers and sisters’ not only as children of God but as a ‘family of man’ sharing the fellowship and joy that one gets from working side-by-side to a common end,” said First CRC member Dawn Branston.

Reg Branston said, “Whatever apprehensions we had about visiting strangers of another culture evaporated immediately as we met the families, shared stories and pictures, and enjoyed incredibly fulfilling conversations as they shared tea or coffee with us.”
