After a disagreement with his congregation, Rev. Samuel Sung changed the locks on the doors of New Hope Christian Reformed Church in Tacoma, Wash., effectively depriving a large number of legitimate worshipers a place to gather.

Sung was deposed as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the CRC by Classis Pacific Northwest on March 7, 2006, said Rev. Tim Toeset, stated clerk of the classis (regional group of churches).

The congregation remaining in the CRC has filed suit in Pierce County Superior Court in Tacoma to regain control of the church’s building.

Classis Pacific Northwest has also joined the lawsuit in support of the congregation.
