Author Sally Lloyd-Jones and illustrator Jago are renowned for their collaboration on The Jesus Storybook Bible. They again joined creative forces to produce a set of two picture books based on the text of Psalm 23 and the Lord’s Prayer first published in that storybook Bible, but with new illustrations.
Children are introduced to David’s famous Psalm in the lilting, accessible text of Found: “God is my Shepherd./And I am his little lamb…./Inside, my heart is very quiet./As quiet as lying still/in soft green grass/in a meadow/by a little stream.” The book concludes with a wonderful exclamation of faith: “Wherever I go I know/God’s Never Stopping/Never Giving Up/Unbreaking/Always and Forever Love/will go, too!”
In Loved, children hear the Lord’s Prayer in poetic, understandable language: “Hello, Daddy!/We want to know you./And be close to you./Please show us how./Make everything in the world right again./And in our hearts too./Do what is best—/just like you do in heaven,/and please do it down here too.” This book, too, concludes with a litany of praise: “We think you’re great!/Amen!/Yes we do!”
Both of these worshipful children’s picture books capture the wonder of God’s love for his children and the world. The boxed set, which includes a keepsake print, is an excellent choice for a child’s birth or baptism gift. (Zonderkidz)
