Finally! That's what Skillet fans are saying four years after their last studio release Awake! Rise includes 12 songs that do not disappoint musically. Fans will recognize familiar melodies from previous releases in a few of the new songs. The theme of the CD can be found in the first two songs “Rise” and “Sick of It.” These songs also blend together with no pause; as one ends, the other begins. The CD tells the story of being tired of sin and how it affects people’s lives. While it is spectacular musically, it is weak lyrically. At best they use veiled references to Christianity, the Bible, and Jesus. Even the song “Salvation” does not mention how salvation is to be found. The Deluxe Edition package includes 3 extra songs and a DVD of concert and behind-the-scenes footage. (Atlantic)
