While in Greece in 2022 volunteering with Helping Hands ministry, Pastor Peter Armstrong produced a teaching documentary around Acts 17.

Peter Armstrong, the pastor of Parklane Christian Reformed Church in Portland, Ore., traveled to Greece in the summer of 2022 to volunteer with Helping Hands, a ministry in Athens that serves refugees from Afghanistan and Iran in the name of Christ. Joined by his videographer friend, Petr Shotropa, they produced a teaching documentary around Acts 17 and the story of Dionysius and his conversion to Christianity. The 15-minute video, “Paul in Athens,” is available on YouTube from PDX Outreach

“Portland Outreach” (PDX is an abbreviation of the city’s airport) is a ministry of Parklane CRC “although not all the leaders or attenders are members of our church,” Armstrong said.

PDX Outreach ministers to unhoused people in downtown Portland “and hosts a young adults Bible study at our church every week,” Armstrong said. He said Shotropa and several friends “who are passionate about the Reformed world and life view and want to share their faith with our city, which is largely pretty secular” started the group a few years ago.

Parlane CRC hosted a premier of “Paul in Athens” and a Q&A session that was attended by about 150 people, Armstrong said. His goal is to show the film at many different churches, starting in the Portland area.

Armstrong shared the film on the CRC’s Network website in May.
