Denver Cheers Coach’s 800th Win

Dick Katte, Colorado’s “winningest” basketball coach, reached a milestone recently when his Denver Christian High School team won number 800 of his coaching career. Nationwide he’s one of only 10 still-active coaches to accomplish 800 wins.    

Katte, a member of Denver’s Third Christian Reformed Church, shows no sign of stopping. Asked whether he hoped to be around for win 900, Katte said, “I look to the future with a sense of uncertainty, but my love for my job will keep me going as long as I can continue to help boys become the young men God has gifted them to be.”
