Four girls from Chicago Christian High School broke the Illinois state record while taking first place in the 3,200 meter relay at the State of Illinois Individual Track Tournament.

Justine Van Dyk, 17; Kirsten Harms, 17; Stacey Kamp, 17; and Julie Kamp, 16, are all members of Orland Park (Ill.) Christian Reformed Church.

The girls finished in 9 minutes, 20.4 seconds, breaking the state record for the 1A division. Coach Jim Kwasteniet said, “I have coached 12 individual state championship events, and this was the most exciting of all of them, seeing these girls working together to make their goal of setting the state record a reality.”
