In this aesthetically-pleasing, 30-day morning and evening devotional targeting a female readership, author Kara Stout highlights God’s power to calm his children’s fears in all circumstances.

Stout relates how friends and family often told her she was so strong as she faced adverse circumstances—recuperating from a carotid artery dissection, grappling with infertility, struggling with financial and marital difficulties, caring for her mother who had cancer, and grieving her death after having lost her father, as well. But, Stout confesses, “No matter what it may have looked like on the outside, I felt completely weak. My troubles weighed on my heart, my trust in God was tested, and my peace was shaken.”

In her difficulties, Stout began to realize that God was teaching her how to calm her anxieties and to find his peace in all circumstances. Stout hopes that, through this devotional, women will draw near to God in the morning and evening, giving all their cares and worries to him.

Each entry includes a Scripture passage, a short meditation, and a prayer. In her last entry, Stout sums up the theme of her devotional: “When life is good, when life is hard, when you feel joyful, when you feel sorrowful, when you feel victorious, when you feel defeated, you can bring it all to God. When we intentionally keep close to Him, our hearts become untroubled, and we experience peace that surpasses all understanding.”

An Untroubled Heart is suitable for mature Christians and for women who might be wondering about God and what a relationship with him means for them.
