Pastor-Church Relations (PCR) is a ministry by which the Christian Reformed Church provides programs of healing and prevention for ministers, staff, consistories, and congregations.
To promote the denomination-wide goal of “creating and sustaining healthy local congregations,” the staff of PCR is available as a resource to pastors, staff ministry leaders, and congregations in areas such as intervention, consultation, education, leadership development, and support.
Ministry share funds allow PCR to provide services to congregations even though their resources may be diminished. In a time of change in the church and culture, it is crucial to maintain support for one another.
What’s New
The Staff Ministry Committee (SMC), a committee under the Pastor-Church Relations office, is working out a mandate from synod to provide support for all church staff similar to that provided for ordained clergy.
In May 2006 Jeanne Kallemeyn began working in the PCR office as staff ministry specialist. Her focus is on church staff ministry leaders who are not ordained. Through personal contacts and regional roundtable meetings, she and other members of SMC are building relationships with this large group of people and increasing their awareness of the services available to them and their churches.
In April 2006 a mentoring conference was attended by a total of 112 new pastors, mentors, and spouses. The theme was “Extraordinary Leadership in Family and Churches.”
