The Institute for Christian Studies (ICS), a Toronto-based graduate school, recently named Chris Gort as its new president. Gort resigned from the Institute’s board, after serving nearly six years in that capacity, to take up the new role.
Bringing extensive management experience from his work with IBM and in running his own business, Gort first encountered ICS during the 1960s while working on Master’s Degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Alberta. During that time he attended the fledgling school’s Banff student conferences.
Gort, a member of Trinity-St. Paul’s United Church in Toronto, will give leadership in strategy implementation and advancement work. He will also represent ICS to the wider academic community and serve on the grad school’s leadership team, which guides the Institute’s day-to-day operation.
“I look forward to finding partners for the ICS in the academic world as well as people and organizations who will walk with us to keep the Reformed voice and vision alive,” said Gort.
