Lord Cat lives on Hunger Mountain, but he has never known deprivation of any kind. Arrogant and self-absorbed, he ensures that he lives in an opulent pagoda, wears luxurious clothes, and eats the finest food. He’s wasteful and careless amidst the extravagance. Despite all his power and wealth, Lord Cat never feels that he has enough.
When famine strikes the land, Lord Cat’s fortunes change. He learns that the rich, deprived of the cushioning of their wealth, become just as hungry as poor creatures do. Forced to leave home and line up for food like everyone else, Lord Cat finally learns what it means to be truly blessed.
This eloquent children’s picture book, illustrated with unique mixed-media collage, shows young children what is—and what is not—important to experiencing a full life. (Philomel)
