Butterfly Park by Elly MacKay

A young girl is sad when she imagines an imminent move to another town because she’ll miss the butterflies in her garden.

Though disappointed in her drab new house, she’s intrigued by a nearby gate shaped like a butterfly with the words “Butterfly Park” engraved in it. She visits the park—devoid of plants—to meet the butterflies and becomes disheartened when she doesn’t see any.

Soon the girl and many other people in the community solve the mystery when they realize that butterflies love flowers’ nectar. The girl and her newfound friends plant myriad flowers in Butterfly Park, and the butterflies return.

Winsome, bright cut-paper illustrations inthis picture book reveal the beauty of God’s creation and the joy and enthusiasm of a community working together to enhance and celebrate it. (Running Press Kids)
